Learn to Sew (Intermediate Level)
This is an intermediate level course designed for students who have done the beginners class and also worked on various projects in the past. The students will be armed with the experiences of basic sewing skills and techniques they have learnt from previous sessions to support them in any given task and project completion.
At the beginning of the term, each student will be given a commercial pattern they will have to work with. They will be supported on how to improve their sewing, cutting and ability to read and understand a commercial pattern.
The intermediate level is an ongoing process. Classes are held term time and new projects are introduced which will challenge and improve the students skills and confidence.
All of the above sounds really serious but there is so much fun and laughter at The Studio.
Duration:
Intermediate group A: 1.5 hours per session once a week, term time excluding half term.
Intermediate group B: 2 hours per session, once a week, term time excluding half term.
Age Group:
6-17 years (students must have gone through beginners level).

£180.00If you have never used a sewing machine before or the last time you went near one was when you were in Secondary school, then this class will be suitable for you. Students will be introduced to the basic sewing tools and the sewing machine, what the tools are used for and how to use them. You will be taught the hand and eye coordination using a sewing machine. You will also learn various seam types and build a mini technical file which would include learning how to insert a zipper and other sewing techniques. At the end of the six week course, the students would have learned how to use a sewing machine competently to be able to move on to the next level.

The students do not need to have any sewing experience to join the course. The students will learn:

We will continue to focus on learning how to cut fabrics and using the overlock as well. When the students finish the sweatshirt they’ll be starting the shorts or bottoms of their choice. This project is intended to continue building the students confidence on Bothe the sewing machine and overlocker. they will also be improving their understanding of commercial patterns.

This 10 week course will teach the students how to create a bodice and skirt block from scratch using their body measurements. Once the blocks have been drafted, the students will create a pattern from their block and make a toile to fit their body and also learn to adjust the toile. You will also be learning how to transfer information from your toile to your block/pattern.
