Terms & Conditions

These Terms & Conditions apply to classes, courses, workshops, holiday camps, events and 1:1 tuition provided by The Sewing Studio by Bunmi Okon.
By making a booking or paying a deposit or course fee, you confirm that you have read and accepted these Terms & Conditions.

1. Bookings & Payment

Places are limited and are only confirmed once the required payment or deposit has been received.
Course fees, dates, times, materials charges and any additional costs will be clearly stated at the time of booking.
Where full payment is required, your place is not secured until payment has been received.
Where a deposit is offered, the remaining balance must be paid by the deadline stated when booking.
Failure to make payment by the specified deadline may result in the place being released to another student.

2. Re-Enrolment & Securing a Place for the Next Term

Current students may be given priority to re-enrol for the following term before places are offered to new students.
A verbal, written or informal confirmation that a student intends to return does not secure their place.
To reserve a place for the next term, a booking deposit must be paid by the stated deadline.
The deposit will be deducted from the total course fee.
Where a student subsequently withdraws, the deposit may be retained to cover losses directly resulting from the cancellation, including where the reserved place cannot reasonably be filled. Any amount retained will be reasonable and proportionate to the Studio’s actual loss.
If the deposit is not received by the re-enrolment deadline, the student’s place will automatically be released and made available to another student.
Previous attendance does not guarantee a place in a future term.

3. Course Fees

Course fees must be paid by the stated payment deadline.
Students may not attend a new term where the required course fee or agreed payment has not been received.
Where materials are charged separately, this will be clearly stated before booking.

4. Cancellations & Refunds

If you wish to cancel a booking, please contact the Studio as soon as possible.
Any cancellation charge or amount retained will reflect the Studio’s reasonable losses resulting from the cancellation, taking into account costs already incurred and whether the place can reasonably be offered to another student.
Where a replacement student can be found, this will be taken into consideration when determining any refund due.
This does not affect your statutory consumer rights.

5. Missed Classes – No Catch-Up Classes

Course places are reserved for the individual student for the duration of the booked course.
If a student misses a scheduled class for any reason, including illness, holidays, school commitments or personal circumstances:
No catch-up class will be provided.
Missed classes cannot be transferred to another date or carried forward to another term.
We are unable to offer individual replacement sessions because group courses operate to a planned timetable and teaching schedule.
Where a student misses a class, the Studio will make reasonable efforts to help them continue with their project when they return, but this does not constitute a replacement lesson.

6. Late Arrival

Students should arrive on time and be ready for the start of their session.
Late arrival does not extend the scheduled finishing time of the class.
For children’s classes, parents and guardians are responsible for ensuring children are dropped off and collected promptly.

7. Classes Cancelled by the Studio

On the rare occasion that The Sewing Studio by Bunmi Okon has to cancel a scheduled class, we will provide an appropriate alternative, such as a replacement session, rescheduled class or refund for the affected session where applicable.
Students will be notified as soon as reasonably possible.

8. Course Changes

Projects advertised for a course are planned in advance. Occasionally, a project, material or teaching schedule may need to be adjusted for practical or educational reasons.
Where this happens, we will aim to provide an appropriate alternative of a similar standard and learning value.

9. Materials & Equipment

Sewing machines and relevant studio equipment are provided unless otherwise stated.
For some Intermediate and Advanced courses, fabrics, patterns or project-specific materials may carry an additional charge. Any mandatory additional cost will be made clear before booking.
Students who own sewing machines may be invited to bring their own machine to become more familiar and confident using it.
The Studio is not responsible for damage to personally owned equipment except where caused by our failure to exercise reasonable care and skill.

10. Children’s Classes

Children’s classes are generally suitable from age 6 unless a different age requirement is stated for a particular course or workshop.
Parents or guardians must provide accurate emergency contact and relevant information required for the safe participation of their child.
Children must follow Studio safety instructions at all times, particularly when using sewing machines, overlockers, irons, scissors and other sewing equipment.

11. Behaviour & Safety

We want The Sewing Studio to remain a safe, welcoming and respectful environment.
Students are expected to follow safety instructions and behave respectfully towards tutors, staff and other students.
Where behaviour presents a serious or persistent safety risk to the student, staff or others, the Studio may need to contact the parent or guardian and, where necessary, end the student’s participation.
Any decision of this nature will be handled reasonably and with the safety and wellbeing of everyone involved in mind.

12. Holiday Camps

Holiday camp bookings are for the dates stated at the time of booking.
Children should bring a packed lunch and water unless otherwise advised.
Early drop-off may be available by prior arrangement only.
If a student misses part or all of a camp, we cannot provide an individual catch-up session. Any entitlement to a refund will be considered in accordance with the cancellation terms above and applicable consumer rights.

13. Stitch & Chill, Workshops & Events

The skill level and project for each Stitch & Chill event or workshop will be stated when advertised.
Customers are responsible for checking that the advertised skill level is suitable before booking.
Projects may vary between events.
Refreshments are included at Stitch & Chill events unless otherwise stated.

14. 1:1 Tuition

1:1 tuition is available for children and adults and is tailored to the student’s ability, experience and learning objectives.
The minimum booking is 2 hours at £50 per hour.
1:1 sessions must be arranged directly with the Studio and are subject to availability.
Cancellation and rescheduling arrangements will be confirmed when the session is booked.

15. Photography & Video

From time to time, photographs or videos may be taken during classes, workshops, events and fashion shows for promotional purposes.
For children, appropriate parental or guardian consent will be obtained before identifiable images are used for marketing or promotional purposes.
You may contact the Studio if you wish to discuss photography or media consent.

16. Annual Summer Fashion Show

Students enrolled in applicable Intermediate and Advanced children’s sewing courses may have the opportunity to showcase garments created during the academic year in our Annual Summer Fashion Show.
Participation requirements, dates and arrangements will be communicated separately.
Participation in the fashion show is subject to the arrangements and requirements announced for that year’s event.

17. Personal Belongings

Students are responsible for their personal belongings while attending the Studio.
Please ensure all belongings are collected at the end of each session.
Nothing in these Terms & Conditions excludes or limits liability where it would be unlawful to do so.

18. Accessibility & Additional Support

We aim to provide an inclusive and supportive learning environment.
If you or your child has additional learning or support needs that may affect participation, please contact the Studio before booking so that we can discuss how best to support the student and whether reasonable adjustments can be made.
1:1 tuition may also be available for students who would benefit from a quieter or more personalised learning environment.

19. Acceptance of These Terms

By booking a course, class, workshop, camp, event or private tuition session with The Sewing Studio by Bunmi Okon, you confirm that you have read and accepted these Terms & Conditions.
These Terms & Conditions do not affect your statutory rights.
